Gorilla trekking
One of the most iconic adventure experiences in Uganda is gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park.

Another encounter with gorillas in Uganda is the gorilla habituation experience which can be done in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi national park
Primate tracking
Uganda offers an exciting primate adventure experience across various destinations. Some of the primate tracking experiences in the country includes chimpanzee tracking and habituation, golden monkey tracking and habituation.
Chimpanzee tracking in Uganda is carried out in destinations such as Kibale forest national park, Budongo forest reserve, Kyambura gorge in Queen Elizabeth national park. This activity involves interacting and closely observing the chimpanzees in the forests and spending time with them and recording photos and videos during the trek.
In Uganda, golden monkey trekking adventures can be carried out in Mgahinga national park which is also home to mountain gorillas. The golden monkey trekking experience allows tourists to search for and spend time with the endangered primates in their natural habitat.
Wildlife safaris

The powerful currents of River Nile provide an adrenaline-fueled experience for both non experienced and experienced rafters. This experience takes place in Jinja and is done in places like Itanda falls, Busowoko falls among others.
This activity costs about 140 USD and is offered by different operators in Uganda such as Nile River explorers.
Mountain climbing/hiking
Uganda’s mountainous terrain also offers excellent adventure opportunities for mountain climbing and hiking.
The Rwenzori Mountains (5109 meters), also known as the “Mountains of the Moon,” present a challenging yet rewarding hiking experience with stunning alpine landscapes and diverse flora and fauna. Hiking to the summit of the Mount Rwenzori (Margherita peak) takes about 7 days or more depending on the route used for hiking.
Another hiking destination in Uganda is Mount Elgon which is located in eastern Uganda at an altitude of 4321 meters. Other mountains in Uganda include Mount Sabyinyo (3669 meters), Mount Moroto (3083 meters), Mount Muhabura (4127 meters) among others.
Bird watching
Bird watching enthusiasts will find Uganda to be a paradise, as it is home to over 1,000 bird species, including the iconic shoebill stork.
Uganda’s varied habitats, from wetlands to forests, provide ample opportunities for birding excursions. The bird species in Uganda can be seen in places like the Mabamba swamp, Budongo forest reserve, national parks around the country, Kibale forest, Bigodi wetland sanctuary among others.
