The boat cruise in Akagera national park is a scheduled activity and for travellers interested in the activity, they can participate in the safari experience at the following times below;

o 7:30 – 8:30 am

o 9:00 – 10:00 am

o 3:00 – 4:00 pm

  • 4:30 – 6:00 pm (sunset trip)

 

For travellers interested in the private boat trips, these can also be organized and are charged at a flat rate for the boat, not per person meaning even if you’re the only person on the boat you will pay the full amount for hiring the boat. For the private boat cruise in Akagera national park, you should book for them at a time that is not scheduled for the public boat cruise therefore the time can be between 10.30am – 1.30pm

Before you access the park premises to participate in the boat cruise on Lake Ihema, you are expected to pay for the park entry fees as shown below;

  • There are different passes that you can also purchase to have unlimited access to the park in order to participate in the different activities in Akagera National Park. Annual Passes are available and allow unlimited access to Akagera for a one-off payment for a period of 1 year. Single, Couple and Family passes are The annual pass fee includes entry permits, but does not include vehicle fee or park activities, however, a 10% discount on park activities is offered to Annual Pass holders. Further terms and conditions apply – please read them carefully before purchasing a pass.

    While you visit Akagera national park to participate in the boat cruise on Lake Ihema, you will need to provide the following details;
  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Activity type, date and time (for boat trips)
  • Number of people (if there are children in the group, please also provide their age)
  • Whether you want to be invoice in Rwf or USD

After getting access to Akagera National park you will then participate in the boat cruise which will give you access to a number attractions. Along the shores you will watch a number of herbivores  like the elephants grazing within the plains, the rhinos, you will also get to see a number of remarkable views for the park and a number of rewarding attractions after your  game drive you will transferred to the lodge for lunch and refreshments and later on participate in the afternoon boat cruise at Ihuma where you will see game like hippopotamuses, Crocodiles and many bird species like the endangered shoe bill stork, African King fishers catching their prey from the Lake that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps.  After the safari experience you will then head back to the park reception and the end of your safari experience.
