Detailed itinerary of the 13 days East Africa Safari
Day 1: Arrival
Your safari will start with pick up from Kigali international airport and your guide will welcome you to Kigali. You will be driven to the hotel in Kigali for check in and depending on your time of arrival, you will have a city tour in Kigali.
Day 2: Drive to Volcanoes national park
Your guide will pick you up from the hotel in Kigali and you will prepare for the journey to Volcanoes national park. You will have a stop for a cultural tour in Iby’iwacu village where you will be welcomed by the locals, enjoy traditional dance performances, try out local food and get to know more about their way of life and culture.
After the visit to Iby’iwacu village, you will be driven to the lodge in Volcanoes national park for check in and dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking
After breakfast, you will take part in a golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes national park for a chance to encounter these endangered primate species. The activity will start with a briefing at the park headquarters before beginning the search for the golden monkeys. You will spend 1 hour with them before returning to the lodge.
Day 4: Drive to Bwindi national park
You will have breakfast at the lodge in Volcanoes national park ahead of the drive to Bwindi national park. Your guide will drive you to the lodge in Bwindi after crossing to Uganda and you will send the day in Bwindi national park where you will have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking and Batwa tour
After an early breakfast served at the lodge in Bwindi national park, you will proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking in Bwindi and after this trek into Bwindi forest to begin the search for the gorillas.
You will spend 1 hour with the gorillas when you find them in Bwindi forest and after this encounter, you will return to the briefing point. You will also have an optional Batwa tour on this day to interact with the locals to get to know more about their way of life and culture, enjoy traditional dance performances. After this experience, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Drive to Queen Elizabeth national park
You will cross over from Bwindi national park to Queen Elizabeth national park via the ishasha sector which is home to tree climbing lions in Uganda. You will also enjoy seeing wildlife species along the way such as elephants, lions, buffalos, antelopes and many others. You will continue to the lodge in Queen Elizabeth national park after the game drive for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Drive to Kibale national park
After breakfast at the lodge in Queen Elizabeth national park, you will engage in a morning game drive and search for wildlife species such as elephants, buffalos, hippos, antelopes, hippos among others.
Your guide will drive you to Kibale national park after the game drive and you will have dinner and overnight stay in Kibale.
Day 8: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi tour
You will head into Kibale forest for a chimpanzee trek on this day after an early breakfast at the lodge. The chimpanzee trek will start with a briefing at the Kanyanchu headquarters where you will be allocated ranger guides and proceed into Kibale forest to search for the chimpanzees.
After the chimpanzee trek in Kibale national park, you will visit Bigodi and enjoy a bird watching experience. You will return to the lodge after this experience and prepare for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9: Drive to Entebbe
After breakfast at the lodge in Kibale national park your guide will drive you to Entebbe where you will relax for the rest of the day.
Day 10: Fly to Nairobi
From Entebbe international airport, you will fly to Jomo Kenyatta international airport where your guide will be waiting to pick you up and welcome you for the Kenya safari. You will proceed to the hotel in Nairobi where you will check in and spend the rest of the day. Depending on your time of arrival, you will engage in a city tour around Nairobi.
Day 11: Drive to Masai Mara
Your breakfast will be served at the hotel in Nairobi and your guide will drive you to Masai Mara reserve for an experience of wildlife viewing in one of Kenya’s best wildlife viewing destinations. You will have dinner and overnight stay at the lodge in Masai Mara.
Day 12: Game drives in Masai Mara
You will engage in a morning and afternoon game drive in Masai Mara reserve after breakfast at the lodge. During this day you will spend the day exploring the savannah and search for elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, zebras, wildebeests, waterbucks, impalas, elands, hippos, cheetahs, giraffes among others.
You will have a lunch break after the morning game drive and spend the rest of the day in the wild searching for wildlife species in Masai Mara.
Day 13: Departure
After having breakfast at the lodge in Masai Mara, you will enjoy a short game drive and look out for zebras, lions, elephants, buffalos, giraffes among others and after this you will be driven to Nairobi which will bring the tour to an end.
