Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru
A unique tourist destination, Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru is situated in Kabarole, close to Nyakasura School, 10 miles from Fort Portal town. This is a major tourist destination in Uganda and a site of great cultural significance to the local tribe, the Batoro.
Stalactites and stalagmites are natural features found in this cave. The calcium carbonate stalactites drip from the cave’s top, where they hang to form the stalagmites that grow from the ground.
The waterfalls that greet you as you enter Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru, which is tucked away in a little woodland, provide breathtaking beauty for anyone interested in visiting the place. The main elements of this section are located in the subterranean caverns, which you can only reach after passing beneath the falls.
These rocks are associated with a big cultural myth among the Batoro, which instructs the younger generation to obey the elders’ instructions. It tells the story of Bakuku, a king who ruled over the Batembuzi Dynasty, who were thought to be demigods who frequently vanished. The rocks were named for Nyina Mwiru, King Bukuku’s daughter, who refused to wed the man her father had selected for her. The daughter’s decision to defy the King and marry a guy of her choosing shocked the villagers. In order to prevent her from getting married again and having amiable children, the king consequently ordered that her breasts be amputated.
As a result, it is thought that the caves are Nyina Mwiru’s breasts, and that they have been leaking milk ever since. The people dubbed this location Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru, which roughly translates to “Breasts of Nyina Mwiru.”
Many tourists have visited Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru, and after exploring the cave, they choose to hike up the Nyakasura hills, which offer a stunning view of three crater lakes. They also visit a well-known location that has a large footprint that is thought to have belonged to one of the ancient Batembuzi.
One can choose to go to other nearby trip sites after the Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru tour, and Semuliki National Reserve is one of them, where you can go on birding safaris and explore the hot springs. For chimpanzee tracking, Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, Nature Walks, and a tour of the crater lakes at Fort Portal, you can also travel to Kibale National Park. Additional national parks that you might include on your schedule are Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Forest National Park, and Murchison Falls National Park.
