Although Kibale National Park has its own unique weather and climatic patterns
The park’s weather is not constant because it is a tropical rainforest, which means it may rain at any time of day. The primary climatic aspect of location has a significant impact on the weather in Kibale National Park. Kibale National Park is situated close to the equator in the southwest region of Uganda at coordinates 00’30”N and 30’24” E. The main element influencing the weather in Kibale National Park is its proximity to the equator.
By means of the Fort Portal Road, Kibale National Park is around 330 kilometers from Kampala, Uganda’s capital. One of Uganda’s most lovable and glossy tropical forests, Kibale National Park is home to the largest population of primates on the African continent. A lush evergreen rain forest that covers roughly 766 square kilometers makes up the majority of Kibale.
Kibale National Park’s weather is also influenced by altitude. The western Albertine Rift Valley is where the forest is situated. Chimpanzee trekking and chimpanzee habituation are the primary reasons why most visitors come to Kibale National Park.
Because Kibale National Park is a tropical rain forest and is close to the equator, its daily weather and climate fluctuate slightly over time. The majority of Kibale National Park is damp and temperate. Because of its closeness to the equator, Kibale National Park experiences nearly constant temperatures all year round.
Weather during the dry season
Kibale National Park consistently has daytime temperatures above 27 °C. Nonetheless, Kibale National Park consistently has cool evenings, with temperatures hovering about 15°C. The southern portion of Kibale National Park has higher temperatures than the rest of the park since it is situated at a lower elevation than the rift valley level.
Because Kibale National Park is in Africa, there is no set dry season, so you should always be ready for rain or drizzle. But compared to the rest of the year, December through February are the driest months. In addition to being extremely dry months, June and July also have generally warmer and drier weather all year long. Even if this season is dry, you should always be prepared for a shower or drizzle.
In Kibale National Park, the best time of year to go chimpanzee trekking is always during the dry season. For nature walks and other forest activities, the forest trails are actually rather accessible. However, there is some crowding in the national park, including Kibale, during the dry season, which is Uganda’s busiest travel time. Additionally, safari rates have been significantly raised to reflect the influx of tourists entering the nation.
The rainy season
Like the rest of Uganda, Kibale National Park has two distinct seasons of rainfall. March through May is the first wet season, while August through November is the second. It is recommended that you bring everything you need to survive the rainy season. Most park activities, like chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi Swamp Walks, are extremely difficult during the rainy season.
The wettest months in Kibale National Park are March and April through May, with April seeing the most rainfall. Although there is significant rainfall in August, September, October, and November as well, October sees the biggest amount of this peak. The roads are only usable with a 4WD vehicle during this season. However, throughout the wet season, the average daytime temperature remains warm at around 27 °C, while the average nighttime temperature is 15 °C.
This is also the off-peak time of year for visitors to Kibale National Park and other Ugandan national parks. The roads in Kibale National Park become extremely slick during the rainy season, and the trekking routes are nearly inaccessible. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park is very difficult during the rainy season. Nonetheless, practically all safaris to Kibale National Park and other locations in Uganda are inexpensive during the wet season.
